Mr. Haque graduated from the University of Singapore in 1964 with a LLB (Hons). After graduation, he served in various capacities within the Singapore Legal Service, such as Deputy Public Prosecutor, Deputy Director, Legal Aid Bureau, Magistrate and District Judge (1964 - 1973). He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of Singapore in 1968.

Mr. Haque left the Legal Service and joined the private sector as the Managing Director of a trading and manufacturing company (1973 - 1980). He proceeded to University College, University of London and graduated, in 1981, with a Masters Degree in Law specialising in marine insurance, maritime law, carriage of goods by sea and civil litigation.

He began his legal practice at Netto Low & Partners (1982 - 1985) and was one of the founders of Haridass Ho & Partners (1985 - 1999). Thereafter Mr. Haque was a consultant to the Madhavan Partnership (1999 – 2009) and, following that firm’s merger with this, is now a consultant to Joseph Tan Jude Benny LLP.

Mr. Haque concentrates his practice in the areas of admiralty, commercial, criminal and insurance litigation and ADR. He sits on the Inquiry Committee of the Law Society of Singapore and is an accredited mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre and an accredited arbitrator with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. He is also the Chairman of the Citizenship Deprivation Committee (Ministry of Home Affairs).

As an avid and locally renowned sportsman, Mr. Haque represented Singapore and Malaysia in hockey in the SEA Games, Asian Games and in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo. In 1971, he was awarded Sportsman of the Year, a merit award for hockey.

Mr. Haque was conferred the Public Service Medal, PBM (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat), and the National Day 2006 Public Service Star by the Government of Singapore for his contributions as Chairman of the Citizenship Committee of Inquiry.
